I chose to study the BA in Theatre & Performative Practice at UCC because I was looking for a course that combined creative exploration with a theoretical foundation. I was also drawn to the flexibility of taking a Joint Degree, and—somewhat unexpectedly—I chose Philosophy as my second subject.
Although I initially focused on performance, I was surprised by how Philosophy and Theatre began to inform and enrich one another in my thinking, particularly around questions of ethics and expression of identity. The classes were small and supportive, which allowed space for that kind of interdisciplinary exploration.
I’m currently studying an MA in Philosophy at UCC, and I hope to continue exploring the intersections between performance, social engagement and ethics in both academic and applied contexts.
